Lightning Girls: Growth, Grit, and Community

This season has brought some changes for our Lightning Girls program, as MYLA shifted to combined 3rd and 4th grade teams. With that adjustment came some roster movement and new challenges for our players. But if there is one word to describe this group, it’s resilient.

This past weekend was a perfect example of that resilience in action. Watching all four of our Lightning teams take the field, it was clear just how much progress each group has made. Every team showed growth, confidence, and a stronger understanding of the game. From improved positioning to better communication and teamwork, the development from week to week has been incredible to see.

What makes this group especially unique is the mix of experience. We have players picking up a stick for the very first time alongside players who have been playing for years. And yet, each week, they come together as teammates. They are supporting one another, learning together, and building something special.

We are incredibly fortunate as a community to be able to offer this program in-house. It allows our players to grow in a supportive, local environment while building friendships and a love for the game right here in Catonsville.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated coaches, who continue to invest their time and energy into developing these athletes. Their commitment is evident in the steady improvement we see on the field every single week.

The future is bright for our Lightning Girls. If this season has shown us anything, it’s that this group is not only learning the game….they’re growing into confident, capable players who truly embody what our program is all about.
